Date: 4/4/09 (Satuday)Location: Jacob Ballas Children's Garden Objective: To share knowledge about birds and to discuss how we can make a positive difference in the life of birds and the habitats they live in. The children started streaming in even before the event started. They must be really excited! Finally the classroom was ready. The highly anticipated moment was here. The children’s eyes lit up as they filed into the classroom. The children started off drawing and colouring birds. They were extremely creative and stunned everyone with their art pieces. Following that, the drawings were hung up, and there was a discussion about their pictures. ![]() Uncle Andrew then explained about birds in detail. He displayed some printouts of the birds. Our knowledgeable audience managed to guess the type of bird every time! Some species included: · Hornbills ![]() · Macaws ![]() · Herons ![]() Quiz time! Uncle Andrew quizzed the young crowd on the parts of the birds. There was even a 2D model of a bird for the children to easily learn where the parts were. ![]() The much awaited moment was finally here – bird watching! The children were brought outside to observe different kinds of birds and they managed to see birds like Mynahs and Kingfishers. Following this was an interesting presentation about many different kinds of birds, their habitats and nutrition. ![]() It was time for the hands-on activities! The air seemed to tense up in anticipation as Uncle Andrew explained facts about peacocks.
